Ham and Split Pea Soup

Don made a wonderful soup last night.

It doesn’t look like your traditional soup. But it sure tastes great!

He worked on the preparation in the afternoon while I was working so I don’t have all the details but he took pictures which tell most of the story.

We made a HUGE ham this past weekend so he’s using the bones and scraps from that to make the soup. My guess is that he let this simmer for a few hours to get the flavor from the bones and to cook the meat off them as well.

Fishing the meat out so that he can remove all the bones and pieces we don’t actually want to eat.

Adding the vegetables into the broth and working with the meat. He pulled everything off the bones and chopped up the meat into chunks and then added that back into the crockpot with the vegetables.

He let that all cook together for about three more hours and then used our immersion blender to reduce everything to the finished product you see below.

We dished up and enjoyed!
