A Warm Cup of Spiced Pumpkin

In keeping with my recent interest in pumpkin infused foods (made possible by the oversized cans I purchased – I’m still working on using up the first can I opened), I made these Spiced Pumpkin Sippers last night, courtesy of Serena from The Farm Chicks. I must say I enjoyed this delightful drink. It is incredibly easy to make and would be great to serve for a party or simply to enjoy yourself over the course of a few evenings. I think it would also make a great cocktail with a little rum or vodka. (I have not tried this option yet.)

I modified the original recipe slightly, substituting maple syrup and honey for the brown sugar and using half the amount. Here’s what you need to try this yourself:

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Combine everything in a pan and warm on medium heat, whisking frequently.

Warm to desired temperature. Serve in mugs. Top with whipped cream if desired.

Store excess in refrigerator and re-heat for later occasions. Enjoy!

Thanks Serena for turning me on to this fun drink! 🙂

Oh how we love pumpkin season.  You did know this gourd-ish squash has its own season, right?  Winter, Spring, Summer, Pumpkin…. We anxiously
anticipate it every year.
