A week of Joseph Gordon-Levitt movies. I’ll take it. LOL
Looper was not the action packed, fast-paced movie that I was expecting. That’s not to say it wasn’t good. It was just so different than what I had thought it would be. There is so much more to the story than what it’s marketed as: a future world in which the mob uses time travel to dispose of people by sending them back in time to a hit man who can easily dispose of the body of a person who essentially doesn’t exist in that time. It’s a bit of a trip. It was good movie. A little brutal at times but what mob movie isn’t. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone. It’s very interesting and I can’t see anyone not enjoying it.
Premium Rush, a story surrounding a Manhattan bike messenger, was more fast-paced but it is not a very sophisticated story or plot in any way. Still, it’s interesting and entertaining. The whole bike messenger culture was intriguing. The story format is a little awkward because it’s not presented in a linear fashion, jumping forward and backward in time, but it’s not too bad. Overall, the movie doesn’t have a WOW factor but it’s not a bad choice for a rainy day.
Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It’s a way of understanding it.
