Another Earth is an interesting story. We tripped across it thinking if was a sci-fi story, and it does have a sci-fi slant, but the sci-fi takes a giant backseat to the dramatic story of two people whose lives connect in tragedy. Surprisingly we didn’t get frustrated by the lack of action and turn it off. The story was interesting and all in all I’d say it’s a pretty darn good movie. It’s not high budget and it moves a little slowly but the story is solid. I don’t want to tell you too much about it and spoil some of the revelations. Suffice to say, if philosophy, space travel, and human drama interest you, then maybe take a look at Another Earth.
Holy sh**snacks! The Change-Up is hilarious! It is crude and terrible but funny as can be. I think it deserves a far better rating than a paltry 6.3. I don’t know how we never saw this, since it came out in 2011. I’m guessing I probably looked it up and thought it didn’t look all that great and the 6.3 put me off. It’s like Freaky Friday but with guys, one a hard-working family man with 3 kids, the other a womanizing, irresponsible man-child. The hijinks when they switch lives are out of control. With Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds you really can’t go wrong; the jokes fly so fast that if you’re not careful you miss them. The humor is similar to Arrested Development and Archer, so I thought it was a riot. If you like either of those and haven’t watched The Change-Up, buckle up and check it out. But don’t say that I didn’t warn you that it would be crude, lewd, and awful in the best of ways. Have fun!
Having children, is, it’s like living with little mini drug addicts. You know, they’re laughing one minute, and then they’re crying the next, and then they’re trying to kill themselves in your bathroom for no good reason. They’re very mean and selfish and they burn through your money and they break sh**t.
